What makes a review platform trustworthy

A trusted review platform is not one with the most reviews. It is one where a sceptical visitor can answer three questions quickly: is this a real customer, did the business have any way to influence what they said, and could the business have removed the reviews it did not like?

Reeltic is designed so the answer to all three is visible on the page:

• Real customer. The review is a video of a person, verified by a one-time code to an email address or phone number. Contact details are never displayed and never leak into a display name.
• No influence. The business never sees or edits a review before it is processed. Rewards, if offered, apply to any rating and are disclosed on the profile.
• No deletion. Owners can hide a review that breaks the rules (it stays visible to moderators) and reply publicly. They cannot delete it.

How verification works

1. The reviewer enters an email address or phone number and receives a code.
2. The code is hashed, bound to that destination, expires after ten minutes and allows five attempts. At most three live challenges exist per destination.
3. A successful code produces a short-lived signed token that must accompany the video upload.
4. The upload is trimmed to 30 seconds on the server, the overlay is burned in, and the review is published or queued for the owner's approval.
5. Any coupon reward is awarded once per verified identity, whatever the rating.
